Juniors Program (U8 – U11)

In juniors Football, we build on basics and introduce structured team play in a nurturing and encouraging environment.

What happens in Juniors?

  1. Skill progression — refining kicking, marking, and game sense.

  2. Introduction to team strategy and positions.

  3. Modified match formats — smaller fields, fewer players, more involvement.

  4. Weekly training sessions plus match days.

  5. Focus on fun, friendships, and personal improvement rather than results.

Training & commitment

Training schedule

Match days

Junior teams train once per week (U11s twice).

Games are played on Friday nights or Saturday mornings.

Coaching & support

Our junior coaches are encouraging, inclusive, and community-minded. Parents are invited to help as volunteers (water runners, boundary, or assistant coach).

Equipment & uniform

Players wear club guernsey, shorts, socks, boots, and mouthguards. Sharks merchandise is available at registration or from the club shop.

Pathways & Development

We also offer a Sharks Development Program, giving youth players the chance to build their leadership, fitness, and game awareness in an elite environment. Our players take part in wellbeing initiatives covering mental health, leadership, and social responsibility.

As part of the broader Sharks sporting family, our junior players are also connected to the Redland-Victoria Point Senior Club, who compete at the top level in Queensland through the QAFL. For aspiring players, this pathway creates a clear line from grassroots to state-level competition right here in our own backyard.
